Sawdust Art Festival "Spring into Art" 2006 Weekend Workshops

Beginners are welcome!  Enjoy the spontaneous nature of this beautiful art form.  Express your
creativity with watercolors on rice-paper using Chinese Brush techniques.  Create your own
masterpieces and experience an entirely different way of painting.  No sketching or drawing involved.
Let your energy flow into the brush and bring your paintings to life.       

2 day class fee $150 includes continental breakfast and a catered lunch.

Weekend of March 11 and 12, 2006
Saturday  10am to 3pm
Watercolors on Rice-paper - Flowers I
Learn about the different types of rice-paper and types of Chinese brushes
used for floral subjects.  This workshop will cover the concepts of
color-loading (watercolors), color-mixing, water control and brush strokes used to capture the
beauty and lushness of flowers.

Sunday 11am to 4pm
Watercolors on Rice-paper - Flowers II
Build on the basic techniques taught in Flowers I, focusing on the control and versatility of the
Chinese Brush.  This workshop will also introduce the use of Chinese ink for painting bamboo and
more complex flowers.

March 18, 2006
Saturday  10am to 3pm
Watercolors on Rice-paper - Koi Fish
Learn the spontaneous painting techniques for colorful koi fish.
This workshop is for returning students.  Beginners should take
the March 11-12 workshops to prepare for this.

March 19, 2006
Sunday  11am to 4pm
Watercolors on Rice-paper- Landscape
Learn about the different types of rice-paper and types of Chinese brushes used for landscape
paintings.  This workshop will introduce the use of water-colors with Chinese Ink.  Learn how to
create texture, depth and the brush strokes used to capture the splendour of mountains.
