Beginners are welcome!  Enjoy the spontaneous nature of this beautiful art form.  Express your
creativity with watercolors on rice-paper using Chinese Brush techniques.  Create your own
masterpieces and experience an entirely different way of painting.  No sketching or drawing involved.
Let your energy flow into the brush and bring your flowers and landscapes to life.

Fee: $40

May 15th, Sunday 11am - 4pm
Learn about the different types of rice-paper and types of Chinese brushes used for floral and
landscape paintings.  This workshop will cover the concepts of color-loading (watercolors),
color-mixing, water control and the brush strokes used to capture the beauty and lushness of large
multi-layered petal flowers such as roses, camellias, peonies etc.  You will also be introduced to the
use of water-colors with Chinese Ink.  Learn how to create texture, depth and the brush strokes
used to capture the splendour of mountains.
You will complete 2 paintings in this workshop.

Watercolors on Rice-paper - Bamboo
Fee: $40
Material fee: $25 for new students, $5 for returning students
Learn how to paint Bamboo - one of the 4 gentlemen taught in the traditional Chinese syllabus.  The
strokes used are derived from Chinese Calligraphy and form the basis of spontaneous painting
techniques.
